MULTIROOM TV
We can supply & install a Freetoair or Freesat box & aerial point to each room in your house using one aerial & one satellite dish,

this provides independent viewing of channels in each room & stops arguments over which channel to watch.
this is a great alternative to Sky multiroom

**sky news added manually
RTE Aerial install
At present the only way to view RTE1, 2, TV3, TG4, without a monthly subscription is via  VHF and / or UHF aerial.
Later this year RTE plan to launch the much awaited DTT (digital terrestrial television) service to be called SAORVIEW this will also be received via an aerial.
RTE have no immediate plans to transmit any public broadcast services free to view via satellite,
(pay your TV licence & then pay Sky or UPC again to watch.)
If you wish to view RTE etc without paying a monthly subscription the only way is to have a TV aerial installed.
When you purchase any satellite system from Astral TV you may also have an aerial installed
(that is suitable for both analogue & digital reception of RTE etc)
at a reduced price of
€89.00 + €29.00 for ea extra TV point.
If you just require an aerial install, prices start @  €150.00

Currently RTENL are conducting DTT tests from various transmitters across the country.
These test transmissions can be viewed with the correct equipment ie. any TV with a MPEG4 tuner or a suitable set top box ie. Mvision HD combo, 5 TV channels are being tested RTE1, RTE2, TV3, TG4, RTE NEWSNOW, along with several radio stations.
TV's with the 'FREEVIEW' logo on them will not display RTE DTT as they use MPEG2 encoding you will get sound only.
If you are considering purchasing a new TV in the near future it would be advisable to check wether it has an MPEG4 tuner built in.

Standard 10 element yagi aerial ideal in strong reception areas
Log Periodic aerial ideal for moderate reception areas
Multiboom aerial ideal for moderate reception areas
76 element Unix aerial ideal for fringe / weak reception areas
Benefits of DTT
high quality pictures & sound, an improved teletext service, more channels & choice, on screen TV guides, & interactive services.
Aerial & equipment considerations
to avoid picture breakup, loss of viewing etc, the correct grouped UHF aerial for your transmitter is essential, also ensure there is a BALUN present in the aerial. A Balun is a small circuit board in the aerial where the coaxial downlead attaches, this will significantly reduce any interference.
Cable, it cannot be stressed enough that the cable used for DTT reception must be double screened and of the CT or TX type, existing analogue aerials that are wired with unscreened cable will be prone to the pick up of impulse noise, resulting in picture breakup. Depending on your location you may need a masthead amplifier to boost signal levels, ensure the masthead amp is CE marked, to meet European legislation on ingress & egress of electrical interference.

Signal levels
digital signal levels must be within certain levels, to high a signal will overload the digital receiver, to low will result in no picture or picture breakup. Also carrier to noise ratio (C/N) & Bit error rate (BER) must be within parameters.

BER should be equal to or better than 2E-4 (2 errors in every 10000 bits of data)
min level at receiver  45 Bu V                C/N for reliable reception           26 dB or better
recommended level       50 Bu V                C/N for marginal reception         23 dB
max level at receiver 70 Bu V                 C/N unreliable or no reception    22dB or less
